Hi, I’m Caroline. I’m looking forward to getting to know you! Here’s a little about me:)
I’ve been writing for companies for over a decade. Maybe it’s my fascination with psychology 101 and writing, but moving into the marketing field came natural to me. I love figuring out how and why people act the way they do. I love how some words resonate with some and turn others off. Or why a product is selling off the shelves when a similar one is collecting dust.
Bottom line is that I love learning about businesses’ offerings, audiences, and personalities. And I love helping businesses develop the right tools to connect with their audiences in a positive way.
I’ve always been a little shy with a loud inner voice. I’m an introvert with extrovert tendencies. I think this is why social media has really been an amazing tool for me. I can gather a bunch of people together or join in and share information, opinions, and hilarious memes without any of them knowing I’m blushing. I like that we now have the capability to give companies a voice and share a personality. After all, people buy from people. We should never forget that. The sales transaction is a personal experience.
It’s incredible to me that we have this medium in social media and the internet in general to share what we are and what we know yet many businesses aren’t using it as they should. Not as a podium to stand upon and declare their sales and news. But as a space to connect and develop genuine relationships. To share their knowledge and embrace their communities with valuable information and respect.
I launched Flourish Marketing because I wanted to help others share their voice and connect with their audiences.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, I veered off the path to becoming a social worker in order to pursue a career in communications. My postgraduate studies in PR and communications lead me to work for large corporations crafting communications plans, planning key messages, and coordinating events. A far cry from my initial plan to help people navigate through the trials and tribulations of life.
Soon, though, as any calling tends to do, I felt a pull to do something more with my creative talents and inner desire to service others. In my free time (ok, ok from within the four walls of my tiny cubicle) I launched a blog about the daily life of a subway commuter. I was soon hired as a freelance writer by online resources, both in Canada and the US. It wasn’t long before the snowball effect took over and I left full-time “traditional” employment to work for myself as a writer and, after my first son was born, as a marketer to online magazines and businesses.
Today I’m running this amazing little agency, I love my clients, and I love the people who work for us. Only amazing people are allowed in:) On the personal side, I’m a happy wife to my wonderful husband Brendan, and a proud mom to my two rambunctious and very cute little boys.
Think we’d be a good match?
